CHINESE EMBASSY IN CANADA SIGNS A PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT WITH MOTION PAY TO ACCEPT ALIPAY & WECHAT PAY

Embassy of The People’s Republic of China in Canada announced the partnership with Motion Pay to accept Alipay and WeChat Pay. By partnering with Motion Pay, the Chinese Embassy in Canada becomes the first stationed-abroad Chinese diplomatic institution in North America (The second worldwide) to accept Alipay and WeChat Pay. Through this partnership, Motion Pay reaches a significant milestone marking its 2ndanniversary into the market.

“In recent year, with the increasing number of Chinese citizens coming to Canada and rapid development of mobile payment, mobile payment is also frequently used by Chinese citizens in Canada,” said Heng Xiaojun, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission and Minister Counsellor at Chinese Embassy during the Alipay & WeChat Pay launching ceremony in Chinese Embassy. According to Nielsen report in Jan 2019, 94% of Chinese people would be more willing to pay with their mobile phones if this payment method, like Alipay or WeChat Pay, becomes more widely adopted by local merchants in overseas markets. It’s obvious that Chinese people are spreading their payment habits from home to abroad by using mobile payment all over the world.
