City of Ottawa honored the founder of Motion Pay Technology the 6th annual Immigrant Entrepreneur Award

On Friday, November 3, 2017, Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson presented the sixth annual Immigrant Entrepreneur Awards at TiE Ottawa’s annual entrepreneurship conference, TiECon Canada. Riven Zhang, the founder of Motion Pay Technology Inc, is one of the four recipients of this honor.

Each year the City of Ottawa celebrates and recognizes the success and contributions of individuals who were born outside of Canada and now make Ottawa their home. The awards have been presented annually since 2012.

Riven was nominated by Ottawa Chinese Community Service Center (OCCSC) thanks to his significant contributions to the Ottawa Chinese community in more than a decade. The nomination also recognized his business innovation spirit and entrepreneurship. Founded in 2015 by Riven, the Ottawa-based Motion Pay Technology Inc. provides Canadian businesses with fully integrated payment services designed to attract greater sales opportunities from the hundreds of thousands of Chinese who travel and live in Canada.

The Mayor of Ottawa also stressed that he is expecting more and more Chinese tourists coming to Canada as 2018 will be the “Year of Canada-China Tourism”. Riven’s business could potentially make further contributions to the nation’s economy by empowering Chinese consumers to shop in Canada more easily and conveniently using their Alipay and Wechat Pay accounts.

Motion Pay Technology Inc – www.motionpay.ca – is an Ottawa-based high tech company and the first Canadian company to have working partnerships with Alipay and Wechat pay, the largest mobile payment providers in China. Motion Pay offers secure and flexible solutions for online and in-store payment processing across a wide variety of markets through retail stores, internet and mobile channels.
